Playing along with sketches this week inspired me to get my Father's Day cards done a whole week ahead! {Even the insides are finished!!!} Here's the <a href="http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/2016/06/freshly-made-sketches-240-sketch-by-jen.html?m=1" target="_blank">Freshly Made Sketches</a> sketch:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xtgFxJw9el8/V16srnyjJpI/AAAAAAAABZw/YIaPCN5SwYEpyRj6UiUNmGPUcqYrudifwCLcB/s1600/FMS%2BFinal%2B240-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xtgFxJw9el8/V16srnyjJpI/AAAAAAAABZw/YIaPCN5SwYEpyRj6UiUNmGPUcqYrudifwCLcB/s1600/FMS%2BFinal%2B240-001.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here's my card:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qTe6zer93co/V16s5ARzlFI/AAAAAAAABZ4/0PYEoSwqZ3ciXxXuyUgBb8J8teU7NpSiACLcB/s1600/20160613_073542.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qTe6zer93co/V16s5ARzlFI/AAAAAAAABZ4/0PYEoSwqZ3ciXxXuyUgBb8J8teU7NpSiACLcB/s320/20160613_073542.png" width="248" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, I realize you probably wonder how I came up with that card from the sketch! It was totally inspired by it though! Those long bars reminded me of the trees in the Wonderland stamp set that I've never had a chance to ink up... I was going to put my father's day sentiment popped up on a smaller shape but I didn't have the right shape of sentiment and besides I really like this sentiment from stampin up's Delightful Dozen stamp set. So there you have it... My inspiration from FMS238. I decided to link up anyways, even if it's not the best copy of the sketch! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y8LirzrRGgQ/V16s-oNv2_I/AAAAAAAABaA/itEV2aMKl18PxE6YMxvpdRCjvQL-nC4SwCLcB/s1600/20160613_074309.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y8LirzrRGgQ/V16s-oNv2_I/AAAAAAAABaA/itEV2aMKl18PxE6YMxvpdRCjvQL-nC4SwCLcB/s320/20160613_074309.png" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next up! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the <a href="http://casethissketch.blogspot.com/2016/06/case-this-sketch-176.html?m=1" target="_blank">CAS{E} This Sketch</a> challenge:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xHtBQj4y6hw/V16njPo9VDI/AAAAAAAABZY/-J-tvniKdc4tBLvgAIGhCbiRB6XFVPGswCLcB/s1600/CTS_176.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xHtBQj4y6hw/V16njPo9VDI/AAAAAAAABZY/-J-tvniKdc4tBLvgAIGhCbiRB6XFVPGswCLcB/s320/CTS_176.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here's my card:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q2MCr8tw9po/V16thaUTd-I/AAAAAAAABaM/pvK9ncuhLSU4UDoyJrs3p6WANm8C-lCxQCLcB/s1600/20160613_073434.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q2MCr8tw9po/V16thaUTd-I/AAAAAAAABaM/pvK9ncuhLSU4UDoyJrs3p6WANm8C-lCxQCLcB/s320/20160613_073434.png" width="254" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I realize this isn't a perfect interpretation of the sketch either but again, the card was totally inspired by it. I loved the curved banner on the sketch! I used a straight banner die and just trimmed the top and bottom to a curve. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The burlap is a scrap of ribbon that I couldn't throw away because "it might work on a card sometime..." SO GLAD to finally get it off of my desk! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-60eFOWnebmM/V16xaIbuP6I/AAAAAAAABbM/ITHcuK0yYqED_6HxidalZXQIR40vFPtkQCLcB/s1600/20160613_080920.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-60eFOWnebmM/V16xaIbuP6I/AAAAAAAABbM/ITHcuK0yYqED_6HxidalZXQIR40vFPtkQCLcB/s320/20160613_080920.png" width="226" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The leaves are from the Papertrey Branching Out die. I trimmed off one of the leaves that would've covered the word Father and doodled on the rest with my Old Olive marker. The Kraft paper is embossed with the Papertrey Woodgrain cover plate. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WwInP6q-hjY/V1MAfyJ2KRI/AAAAAAAABYA/LmiZj8ueuE4NJZnRQILCHEj_YUfFVShpQCLcB/s1600/TGIF%2BJUNE%2B2016%2Bnew%2BChallenges_2_2-004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WwInP6q-hjY/V1MAfyJ2KRI/AAAAAAAABYA/LmiZj8ueuE4NJZnRQILCHEj_YUfFVShpQCLcB/s1600/TGIF%2BJUNE%2B2016%2Bnew%2BChallenges_2_2-004.jpg" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used my aqua painter and Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie reinkers to create the background. After it was dry I embossed the thank you in gold over the top. I've tried embossing before I watercolor the background but then I have problems with the ink pooling up in the grooves of the embossing. My background paper is Melon Mambo textured cardstock from my stash. I know... It's been a looong time since that was available! Let's just say I have a few supplies on hand that I need to use up! </div>

I love the clean & simple sketch over at <a href="http://www.global-design-project.com/?m=1" target="_blank">Global Design Project</a> this week... Just my style! I'm also playing along at <a href="http://curtaincallchallenge.blogspot.com/2016/06/curtain-call-inspiration-challenge-sail.html?m=1" target="_blank">Curtain Call Challenge</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the sketch:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-irRlKdVcAEA/V0-IzUehMuI/AAAAAAAABWg/Q5SiLL6PZHwQzDF6CiXSXuKrywWLrcV_gCLcB/s1600/GDP038%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-irRlKdVcAEA/V0-IzUehMuI/AAAAAAAABWg/Q5SiLL6PZHwQzDF6CiXSXuKrywWLrcV_gCLcB/s320/GDP038%25282%2529.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the challenge:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oCN_aNw7HSo/V1BaNTVYRdI/AAAAAAAABXg/HHT43hguhQIunljiF6Q8aUK0fAHms149wCLcB/s1600/sail%2Bon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oCN_aNw7HSo/V1BaNTVYRdI/AAAAAAAABXg/HHT43hguhQIunljiF6Q8aUK0fAHms149wCLcB/s320/sail%2Bon.jpg" width="248" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here's my card:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7kLOepmKBHQ/V1AzfaEsDgI/AAAAAAAABXA/Hljy7xTSIIkSjO4GqbY0uyYoHktnydb7gCLcB/s1600/20160602_082004.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7kLOepmKBHQ/V1AzfaEsDgI/AAAAAAAABXA/Hljy7xTSIIkSjO4GqbY0uyYoHktnydb7gCLcB/s320/20160602_082004.png" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tried "bokeh" for the first time... After my watercoloring had dried I stamped the bubbles above the whale with white. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The banner from Stampin Up Bitty Banners wasn't quite as long as I wanted so I ran it halfway through the Big Shot, moved it over and ran it halfway through from the other direction. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The easiest way I've found to do watercoloring is to put a drop of reinker on an acrylic block and then use Stampin Up aqua painters to "paint" it on watercolor cardstock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been itching to ink up this cute little whale from Papertrey... I finally had time to make some cards today! I had fun using the sketch challenge over at <a href="http://palspaperarts.com/2016/05/26/ppa302-a-sketch-by-nicole-watt/" target="_blank">Pals Paper Arts</a>. I'll update later with card details... I'm wanting to get more cards made while I have a day at home! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iylEtuktOtM/V0yj362-7eI/AAAAAAAABVM/xQ_K39F39Dk3E01XKICTxTLGZaZDbVhLQCLcB/s1600/PPA-302-May26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iylEtuktOtM/V0yj362-7eI/AAAAAAAABVM/xQ_K39F39Dk3E01XKICTxTLGZaZDbVhLQCLcB/s320/PPA-302-May26.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I liked the sketch well enough that I made another card with it! 😊 I loved the colors of the <a href="http://colourq.blogspot.com/2016/05/colourq-challenge-343.html?m=1" target="_blank">ColourQ</a> challenge so I went with those.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next card is one I had made several months ago and never uploaded... I used a slightly different layout for it. The polka dot paper is some that I printed out myself. I was wanting a background with tiny random polka dots and couldn't find paper like it anywhere! If you would like the file to print some yourself, let me know in the comments and I'll email it to you. </div>

It's been a loooong time! I am so happy to be a guest on Mary Fish's <a href="http://www.stampinpretty.com/">Stampin' Pretty</a> blog. She has to be the best upline ever! :) Mary thought my project might generate a few questions so I'll try to answer some of them up front. Feel free to comment here or email me if you have more questions... </div><div style=" ;font-size:100%;"><br /></div><div style=" ;font-size:100%;">I have loved owls since I was a little girl (fussing with my older brother and sister over who got to use my mom's one and only Owl mug for their hot chocolate!!) and I am excited that owls are so popular now! After seeing some CUTE owl bookends in a catalog I decided to try making some stuffed owls myself... so I made up a pattern and after changing it up a bit, I came up with this owl. I love that Stampin' Up has coordinating fabric and buttons... It definitely makes it easier! For this owl I used the Twitterpated fabric collection from the Occasions Mini Catalog and the cherry cobbler buttons from the regals button package... I cut the owl out using my pattern and then appliqued the belly, eyes, beak and wing insets. Next I sewed on the button eyes and then sewed her all together, leaving an opening in the back for stuffing her. Last I hand stitched the opening shut and she's all ready for hugs! :)</div><div size="3" style=" "><br /></div><div size="3" style=" "><img src="https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/?ui=2&ik=11fdeff716&view=att&th=135f997a7590c25b&attid=0.2&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P-ZTzL1fq-WN9jKW_hIxc0z&sadet=1331332910271&sads=QCYJMVnjIQ1z8VmVwvFYsBfMSOw" /> </div><div size="3" style=" "><br /></div><div size="3" style=" ">For the card, I pulled out my Fox & Friends stamp set... I inked the owl in soft suede and used the riding hood red marker to color her feet, then stamped it on white cardstock and cut her out. The owls is popped up with dimensionals. I used the bird punch for the branch. I punched one in early espresso and one in old olive. I then cut the leaves off the old olive branch and glued them onto the espresso branch. The background is pretty in pink cardstock that I ran through my BigShot with the perfect polka dots embossing folder. </div><div size="3" style=" "><br /></div><div size="3" style=" ">By the way, I am hoping to get some owls made and into my Etsy shop TheOwlHutch... That's what it's all about over at Pals Paper Arts this week. Play along at </span></a><a href="http://www.palspaperarts.com/">PPA</a>. The first card I made did not turn out like the picture I had in my mind so I made another one... which one do you like better? (For some crazy reason, the first card I made is pictured last... I don't know what I'm doing yet here!) These roses are super simple to make... I used cameo coral cardstock (retiring with the color renovation), stamped the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=113734">Fifth Avenue Floral</a> rose image with Versamark, and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I then took a Q-tip dabbed in cameo coral ink and highlighted the insides of the petals. You are supposed to use something that you've had on hand... and the card was supposed to be for encouragement. Well, the flower that I used I have had on hand for a loooong time! I had seen <a href="http://rebelinker.blogspot.com/2008/07/five-petal-punch-chrysanthemum.html">this cool tutorial</a> by Stacey King (Rebel Inker) a long time ago and made up some of these flowers with the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=109041">5 petal flower</a> punch (109041). I made one card with one of them at the time and the rest have been in my scraps ever since. So... this sketch inspired me to use them up. You can't really see it, but there is also a Baroque Motifs scroll in Barely Banana ink on the left side of the flower. I used the wings from the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=117191">2-step bird</a> punch (117191 - Occasions Mini) and sponged around the edges with old olive ink for the leaves on the flower. This "encouragement" card was sent to a friend of mine who moved from sunny Florida to Canada... I thought maybe she could use some sunshine since it's lovely spring here and still winter there! :) </div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b>Supplies:</b></div><div>Stamps: Baroque Motifs (113490), Sentiment - Lizzie Anne Designs</div><div>Ink: Black, Barely Banana, and for the flower - Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, and Pretty in Pink, Old Olive</div><div>Cardstock: Barely Banana, white, black, and for the flower - Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, Old Olive</div><div>Other: 5/8" Black Satin ribbon(117285 - Occasions Mini), Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (117335 - Occasions Mini), 5-petal Flower punch (109041), 2-step Bird punch (117191 - Occasions Mini)</div>Anne Eicherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10510053071229314641noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-759898809660536141.post-48057263102195976582010-04-14T08:52:00.000-07:002010-04-14T14:56:22.465-07:00For My Sweet Little Monkey...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SzcLYvZjtlI/S8XlEkTIK1I/AAAAAAAAACM/KANgi0_IBLU/s1600/brown+%26+pink+monkey+bday.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 264px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SzcLYvZjtlI/S8XlEkTIK1I/AAAAAAAAACM/KANgi0_IBLU/s320/brown+%26+pink+monkey+bday.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460021989882735442" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>This sketch was a challenge a couple of weeks ago at Splitcoast Stampers... I'm giving her the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=117020">Fox & Friends</a> stamp set (117020 - Occasions Mini) for her birthday, so I decided to make a card to give her an idea of how to use it. Include in her embellishments (see <a href="http://creativecardsbyanne.blogspot.com/2010/03/movers-shapers-bags-for-ppa35.html">this post</a>) are some green branches punched with the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=117191">Two-Step Bird punch</a> (117191 - Occasions Mini) so she can make her own monkey hanging from a branch. :) I punched a couple of little pink flowers with the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=109183">Trio flower punch</a> (109183) to tie the background paper to the rest of the card. I don't take the time to create much besides cards so I felt like this was a "little" out of my comfort zone! I was trying to come up with something to make and suddenly had a brainstorm... why not make a little fabric bag with the Movers & Shapers die?! I decided to try it out... can't say that it turned out as cute as what I thought it would, but I'll post them anyway! The girly one is for my niece for her birthday... she loves making cards. The two cello bags full of embellies (a bunch of different Stampin' Up punches) will be stuffed into her bag. The star one is just to have on hand... it will probably eventually be filled with pencils or candy or something and given to one of my boys' friends for a birthday gift. The star one is my personal favorite... maybe because I'm used to all things boy! :) What do you think?</div><div><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SzcLYvZjtlI/S7OLD6qZaaI/AAAAAAAAABs/MtLkV8SET_I/s320/movers+%26+shapers+star+mini+bag.jpg" /></div><div><b>Supplies:</b></div><div>Heart bag: Movers & Shapers die (114506), Punch Windows die (115953), 5/8" Red Satin ribbon (117286 - Occasions Mini), fabric scraps from my stash!</div><div><br /></div><div>Embellies bags: Small cello bags (103104), Top Note die (113463), various Stampin' Up punches and bold brights paper, "for you" sentiment - Thankful Thinking (113786)</div><div><br /></div><div>Star bag: Movers & Shapers die (114506), Punch Windows die (115953), Chocolate Chip corduroy button (114339), twine, 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon (109051)</div></div></div></div>Anne Eicherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10510053071229314641noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-759898809660536141.post-73416494435942217272010-03-23T13:24:00.001-07:002010-03-23T13:47:38.371-07:00Guest Stamper at Stampin' Pretty...<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SzcLYvZjtlI/S6kkBGPOXKI/AAAAAAAAAAs/nDv_YdYw27U/s1600-h/mary+fish+guest+stamper+card.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 255px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451928425181633698" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SzcLYvZjtlI/S6kkBGPOXKI/AAAAAAAAAAs/nDv_YdYw27U/s320/mary+fish+guest+stamper+card.jpg" /></a> A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be the guest stamper on Mary Fish's <a href="http://www.stampinpretty.com/2010/03/guest-stamper-anne-eicher.html"><span style="color:#ff6666;">Stampin' Pretty</span></a> blog.
